Body recovered after jump off Roth Bridge
ST. GEORGES, DELAWARE (4/12/2015) A body was recovered from the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal after someone jumped off the Roth Bridge on Route 1, Delaware State Police reported.
Passing motorists reported the jump about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
State and New Castle County police, fire company rescue boats and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control searched until the victim was located near the rocks on the south side of the canal west of the St. Georges Bridge.
Lanes on Route 1 were closed about two hours, police said.
Troopers are still investigating but police said no foul play is suspected.
The name of the victim has not been released.
